International Membership
Royal St. Davids welcomes applications for International Membership.
International membership is limited to 100 players who have visited Harlech, played on the course and have met the Secretary. Letters of introductions and handicap certification are also required from applicant's home clubs. Applicants should be resident outside the British Isles and not be citizens of the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland.
Subscription rates are very reasonable, being the same as other away members (currently £303.50) including the £8.50 paid to the Golf Union of Wales; there is an Entrance Fee of £100. International members are full members of the Club with voting rights.
Please contact the Club Secretary, Mr David Morkill, if you are interested in taking up one of the places. Give your nationality, home club and handicap and he will e-mail you back an application form.
Associate International Membership
For those who have not yet enjoyed the pleasures of Harlech, Associate International Membership can be taken out on the recommendation of a recognised golf club together with evidence of playing ability, usually a handicap certificate. Please e-mail the Secretary to express your interest. This membership carries a subscription of £231.50 including £8.50 to the Golf Union of Wales; there is an Entrance Fee of £100. The membership allows unlimited golf and entry to Club competitions, but does not carry voting rights.

About the Members
The Club was founded chiefly by golfers from away, who, in late Victorian times, regularly spent their summers in Harlech. The Prince of Wales, later Edward VIII and Duke of Windsor was Captain of the Club in 1934/5 and HRH the Duke of York is the patron of the Club at the present time. A "Town Club" grew up alongside the Royal Club enabling local people to play the course. In the sixties the Town Club faded away and the two Clubs were integrated into one. There have always been a large number of "away" members from all over Britain, many of them good players who are drawn to the Club by the quality of the golf and the delights of the area. Now the Club is actively seeking to spread the good news beyond the shores of the British Isles by recruiting International Members.

Club Competitions
The Club Competitions are structured to cope with the combination of local and away members. Many of the main competitions are concentrated in three main meetings a year at Easter, Whitsuntide and in August. There are also three smaller "long weekend" meetings for St. David's Day (in March), the May Holiday and the President's Meeting (in early October). These Meetings provide a wonderful opportunity for the gathering of like minds and are eminently suited for the International member. |
