The Ladies' Section at Royal St David's is for players of all ages and abilities: young juniors; girls who have represented the county team; total beginners and established players, including those who compete at a high level.
The Ladies’ Section always welcomes new ladies. If there’s anyone out there looking to join a friendly group and enjoy some outdoor activity why not come along? If you haven’t yet started playing golf, there are lessons for complete beginners. Please call 01766 780857 to find out more.
Ladies' competitions are on Wednesdays and there is a 13-hole "roll-up" on Mondays.
The President’s Prize on the Saturday was won by Julie Snelson with a score of 36 points; the runner-up was Min Conway with 34 points.
The following day one of our juniors, Grace Lewis (aged 12), won the Janet Bailey Memorial Trophy with an excellent score of 41 points; Diane Lamkin was the runner-up with 37 points.

The C&A Autumn Meeting was held at Holyhead and began in wet and very windy conditions, which gradually eased during the day.
Three RSD members were among the prize-winners in the 18 hole medal:
Ann Lewis won the Platt Cup for the best gross score in the silver division and Shuna Sweeting was the runner-up.
Julie Snelson won the best net score in the silver division and was also nearest the pin (very near indeed!)
RSD v Trentham This was a new fixture this year. Eight ladies came and we played a four ball betterball match, which Trentham won 3-1 (2 lost matches and 2 halved.) Everyone had an enjoyable day and a return matched is planned for next year.
The Capon Caper is one of our Wednesday competitions. There was an excellent turnout for this, with 18 ladies competing. Jenny Lloyd was the winner with 33 points, one ahead of Sue Mills.
Ten ladies played in the Exchange Day at Conwy. We were fortunate to have a sunny day after the deluges of the previous days. Jenny Lloyd had another good win and the winning team was Mair Eluned, Sue Lloyd and Penny Elsmore.
Welsh Senior Ladies’ Open Championships
This was held at Pwllheli Golf Club on 2nd and 3rd September, two extremely windy days. Several of our members took part and Julie Snelson came away with a prize for the best net score in her age group.
North Wales Ladies’ Challenge Shield Association
Our teams each played 8 matches throughout the summer. Many congratulations to the Scratch team on winning their division for the 12th year in succession! Unfortunately, the Division 3 team were relegated but they look forward to playing some different courses next year in Division 4.
Three Friendly matches were also played. One was halved but the other two were both won.
Well done to everyone who played in the matches!
The club was delighted to host the R&A Women’s Senior Ladies’ Amateur Championship
this year, 90 ladies from 16 countries competed over three days, with a cut after the second day. The weather could not have been more perfect – warm, sunny and very little wind. Many positive comments were received about the condition of the course and the way in which the club hosted the championship. Members of the club enjoyed assisting with scoring, ball-spotting and caddying.
Our own members Ann Lewis, Julie Brown and Jeanette Williams all finished with very respectable scores but the winner was Lara Tennant from the United States who won after a 3-way play-off over 3 holes.
There is a full report of the final day on the R&A website here:
